Netflix is throwing its hat into the festival circuit ring.
The streaming giant has announced the Netflix may be a Joke Fest, a week-long comedy festival held across multiple venues in l. a… Comedy stars like Dave Chappelle, Jamie Foxx, Kevin
Hart and Martin Lawrence will perform at the festivities, which include quite 100 live shows.
“It’s our honor to rework LA for one week into the funniest place on earth,” Netflix’s Chief
Content Officer Ted Sarandos said during a handout. “This festival may be a unique celebration of the art of comedy, and therefore the role it plays in reflecting our lives and defining culture. It’s an opportunity for comedy lovers to return together and see their favorite artists also as discover new ones, and for us to be ready to share the electricity and excitement of the festival in l. a. with Netflix
members around the world.”
Other notable comedians booked for the festival include David Letterman, Wanda Sykes, Bill Burr
and Lily Tomlin.
Chappelle, Hart, Sykes, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Seinfeld, and Sarah
Silverman also will participate within the Hall: Honoring the Greats of Stand-Up ceremony, which is
celebrating comedy legends George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Joan Rivers, and Robin Williams.
Netflix may be a Joke Fest is scheduled to start on April 27 and conclude on May 3. Tickets for the
various shows are on sale now.
